Since 2017, I have dedicated myself to the craft of knife making and currently hold the title of Journeyman Smith with the American Bladesmith Society.

My approach to artistic bladesmithing is informed by a sculptural perspective. By conceptualizing my knives as sculptures, I have unlocked new avenues of creativity, allowing me to integrate innovative design elements and achieve a more elegant flow in my pieces. This perspective also influences the way my work is displayed and presented.

I draw inspiration from ancient artistic techniques found in various disciplines, including jewelry and pottery. Techniques such as keum boo, kintsugi, and intricate carvings are particularly significant to my work. My signature style features sweeping and complex guards for bowie and dagger designs, along with distinctive handle carvings.

Currently, I am focusing on the creation of art daggers and bowies, and I look forward to sharing my work with you in the future.

My name is Paul DiStefano, and I am a bladesmith and artist based in New York City.
